Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples is a short-term, proven, integrative psychotherapeutic approach for treating interpersonal disorders. The method is based on John Bowlby's attachment theory, in particular the adult attachment model. This model has been confirmed by a number of fundamental scientific studies. This approach integrates modern scientific knowledge about the nature of marital relations, the causes and mechanisms of their violations, the patterns of emotional reactions and interactions in a couple. Contemporaries call EFT love therapy.
EFT can effectively treat relationship disorders and create safe bonds between spouses and family members. Studies show that 70-75% of couples as a result of therapy achieved changes in the dynamics of relationships from distress to reconnection, and in 90% of them qualitative positive changes in relationships persisted in the long term after completion of therapy.
A distinctive characteristic of EFT is clarity and structuredness. The therapeutic process is divided into stages and stages. Each stage has its own purpose. For each of the stages of therapy, there are clear techniques and strategies to achieve the goals.
EFT is undoubtedly central to the treatment of marital problems.
